Patron: Lord Grocott of Telford

It’s been quite a while, but the orchestra is back – with a new conductor and a new rehearsal venue

Our new conductor is Ben Goodall. Ben is a professional singer and conductor and he ran very successful Zoom rehearsals for us during lockdown. With the orchestra now finally able to meet again we are delighted that Ben has agreed to continue as our conductor.

The orchestra rehearsed at Chillcott Gardens Care Home for more than a decade. The staff there made us very welcome and we enjoyed playing there but when Covid struck, regrettably it became obvious that we should find a new home.

Our search led us to The Anstice in Madeley, Telford. It is a superb venue with excellent acoustics and has recently been refurbished. So when we restarted rehearsals in September it was at the Anstice.

Our next “formal” concert will be in spring next year. In the interim we hope to put on an informal event.

The Orchestra

In normal circumstances we perform three concerts per year, covering a range of classical music from the 17th to the 21st century. Our emphasis is on enjoying making music together in the local community. If you are interested in joining us you’ll find more information on this website.

Vacancies for Players

Specific vacancies at the moment are for bassoon plus some openings for string players. If you would like more information please email us here.
