I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. We’ve been doing some excellent work over the past couple of weeks, and I’m so pleased with how it’s sounding.
What we did on Monday 3rd October:
We began this week with a run-through of Pirates of the Caribbean, before doing some work on it, beginning with the end. A reminder that we need loads of vibrato and ‘slush’ from bar 167, and then we did some good work on keeping the rhythm steady from bar 181. We made sure pulse and drive at bar 75 was solid, and then the atmosphere was really exciting from bar 96.
Then we played Movement V. Throne Room & End Title. There was some discussion on the suggested cuts we all have marked in, but we decided to play it all. Good work on those hard accompaniment rhythms from bar 10 – it’s well worth putting in the time to secure these rhythms as they sound so impressive when they’re tight.
We ended with a bit of Beethoven’s Allegretto, including some detailed work from letter D – the ‘B’ section of the movement.
What we’ll do on Monday 10th October:
We’ll begin with a bit more work on Movement V. Throne Room & End Title from Star Wars, and then we’ll do some West Side Story, before finishing with the Allegretto from Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony again.
